A customer brought in a brand new Acer laptop from Wal-Mart to have checked out that had a wireless connection problem. The laptop was unable to get a signal from local routers that all other laptops around it could pick up on. It would only pick up on connections it was very close to. It looks as though Acer may be sending out sub-standard wireless hardware in their laptops.
This is actually the first time I have heard of this being a problem. Be sure to do a side by side comparison with another laptop if at all possible after you buy one.
The laptop that was being sold at Wal-Mart with the bad wireless hardware in it was a Acer Aspire with the model number of AS5250-BZ873. Just steer clear of it.
